California's strict Covid Restrictions have kept Disney’s Theme Parks closed causing the company additional layoff of 28,000 workers. Before the covid crisis happen Disney Theme Parks employed 100,00 workers in California. This simple business decision has lead to the rage of Senator Warren. She wrote a letter to Disney demanding answers on the layoffs. In the letter, she blames Disneys’s buybacks, and dividend policies before the covid crisis happen. She said’s in the letter Disney made a short-sighted decision, however, she wrong on why Disney has layoff workers.

“I would like to know whether Disney’s financial decisions have impacted the company’s decision to lay off workers,” Warren wrote. “It appears that — prior to, and during the pandemic — Disney took good care of its top executives and shareholders — and now is hanging its front-line workers out to dry.”

She wants more information on why Disney made the decision. Disney responded to Warren in a prepared statement.

“We’ve unequivocally demonstrated our ability to operate responsibly with strict health and safety protocols in place at all of our theme parks worldwide, with the exception of Disneyland Resort in California, where the State has prevented us from reopening even though we have reached agreements with unions representing the majority of our Cast Members that would get them back to work,” the theme park operator said.

Disney has continued to provide health care to its laid-off workers throughout the Covid crisis. Sadly the Senator doesn’t seem to care that it's the direct policies of the Governor Of California that have to lead to Disney doing the layoffs. Instead of being outrage by these lockdowns which has lead to layoff and record unemployment she mad of the businesses instead.

Disney cut across the board including executives mainly focusing on part-timers. The company has offered a 90-day severance for those workers.
